The project was nominated for the Tile Association Awards for the best use of tiles in a leisure environment. After being short listed it was pipped at the post by a leisure facility in the Midlands. Congratulations go to the team on site for the nomination and for completing a first class job.
The Villa Marina has also been entered in the 2010 UK Lighting Design Awards by local lighting specialists Luminaires. The most striking feature of the lighting are the seven Art Deco Lanterns which were manufactured by bespoke lighting specialists Chelsom and are unique to the Villa Marina. Mr Paul Mathieson-Nelson, Luminaires business development manager commended Tourism & Leisure Minister Martyn Quayle MHK for using only local contractors saying 'It was a good testament to see local contractors working together and completing the refurbishment to such a high standard- something we can all be proud of'. He also praised the electrical contractors Total Electrical Services saying that Gary, Peter and the team had worked tirelessly to ensure the electrical installation went as smooth as possible.
